Steve Clarke has commended Peter Odemwingie for seemingly learning his lesson from his sending off last month.
Odemwingie was banned for three matches after receiving a red card in West Brom’s defeat by Fulham in the Premier League in September.
He has appeared three times for the club since returning from his ban, playing in the win over QPR, and in the losses to Newcastle and Manchester City.
However, Clarke thinks that the striker has realised his mistake and has been playing well for the team.
He said to West Brom’s official website: “His sending off was a blow for him and I think he has learned his lesson and he showed that in the game against QPR. I put him back in for that game and he played really well and he did what I thought he would do. He came in and made his contribution against Manchester City and Newcastle as well.”
The manager has also spoken of Odemwingie’s motivation, and believes that the striker feels happy at the club. He said: “I think Peter has always been motivated. When I spoke to him in the summer he was keen to be here and see how the team developed with me as the head coach. That was the impression I got from him at the start and I think he’s happy and comfortable here. He trains well every day and is a good worker, and I’ve got no complaints about him. He’s done well for me.”
Peter Odemwingie scored 11 goals for West Brom last season.
